The Show Must Go On

The curtain unfolds and I realize
That I’m standing on this stage all alone

Everyone is waiting for me to perform
To jump through hoops, and shuffle cards

But all I can do is sink to my knees
And wrap my body into a ball

This emotional masquerade is exhausting
The charades, the acrobatics

It all feels meaningless and empty

Maybe if I hold onto myself tight enough
I won’t fall apart
