Existential Loneliness

How can I explain this feeling?
It’s like you’re constantly searching
For something that doesn’t exist

The soul grows hopeless when it has no place to go
And so it begins to sink inside of itself
Until it is consumed with existential loneliness

I realize that I am chasing something that I do not recognize
How will I know it when I see it?
It is a shame to yearn for something that can never be embraced

Maybe someday I will find resolution in this demise
Or maybe I won’t — who knows
The universe shows no mercy for those lost in it
