An Epiphany

The incessant yearning for freedom
Has kept my soul in captivity

It’s as if I exist
In between the weight of my own desires

I am never truly here
Because I am always trying to get there

Why can’t we coexist
With what’s in front of us?

It is within the confines of desire
That we separate ourselves from what truly is

And inside of that separation
We manifest a spiritual friction in the form of frustration

I can no longer bury myself
In the illusion that life will begin someday when I get there

All that I will ever need
